Lübeck/London, 01.10.2024 – Project developer Citygrove has completed another development in Germany. The new ‘Premier Inn Lübeck City Centre’ hotel with 203 rooms has now opened directly at Lübeck's main railway station. “With this great hotel in an economically and touristically attractive city, which is also a World Heritage Site, we are setting another exclamation mark on the German property market,” emphasised Mark Farrugia, Managing Director of Citygrove Germany, on the occasion of the opening: “The excellent location in the immediate vicinity of the historic old town and the internationally renowned Holsten Gate and the high-quality property complement each other perfectly.” Farrugia praised the cooperation with general contractor HTGand the operator Premier Inn. “An innovative construction company and an expanding hotel brand are exactly the right partners for such an outstanding location.” In this constellation, the new hotel also achieved BREEAM certification with the rating ‘excellent’. “We are very proud of this,” emphasises MD Farrugia: “Because Citygrove attaches great importance to sustainable construction and compliance with ESG criteria. Not only because we are protecting the climate, but also because this ensures greater economic efficiency in operations and hotel guests are also attaching increasing importance to this.“ The ‘Premier Inn Lübeck City Centre’, which adapts to the curved street ‘Beim Retteich’ with a bend, was a special structural challenge on the approx. 6000 square metre site, emphasises Dr. Michael Cratzius, Managing Director of the general contractor HTG Hoch- und Tiefbau Gadebusch: “But the courage and the concept of Citygrove have paid off, as you can now see from the finished property. It also enhances Lübeck in terms of urban development.” The property also has 68 car parking spaces, including four with electric charging points. Another special feature of the hotel is that 18 of the 203 rooms are wheelchair-accessible and 2 rooms are also wheelchair-accessible. 15 rooms have their own bathtub. “Thanks to the excellent cooperation with the client Citygrove, Premier Inn and our construction partners, we have defied the many challenges of the economic environment and completed a remarkable property within the agreed timeframe,” says Dr. Cratzius. 57 Premier Inn hotels are now in operation throughout Germany with the opening of Lübeck. “Such a presence in a special property in this sought-after city is an important contribution for our brand on the way to market leadership in the premium economy segment,’ says Erik Friemuth, CEO of Premier Inn. Christoph Bergob-Jachens, project manager at the Lübeck Economic Development Agency, is pleased about the completion of a completely successful hotel project by an international developer, whom he supported throughout the entire project development and implementation period. “The collaboration with Citygrove and Premier Inn was characterized by a high level of professionalism from the first contact to the opening and was a lot of fun. In terms of urban development, the new hotel will contribute to the further revitalization of the station area.” Citygrove has already completed a hotel in Düsseldorf in Germany. The natural stone building of the brand ‘The Niu’ near Düsseldorf's main railway station with 13 floors, 438 rooms, co-working space and more than 100 parking spaces went into operation in summer 2021. The hotel is located near the prime Bürgerpark location and also received a BREEAM award. In another project In the centre of Hanover, opposite the main railway station, Citygrove is developing another Premier Inn hotel with 220 rooms. The 9-storey hotel replaces a vacant office building.
