tubesolar AG receives certification from TÜV Rheinland for Green Building applications

TÜV Rheinland grants certification to the Agri PV manufacturer tubesolar AG (ISIN DE000A2PXQD4) for the Green Building sector. Thus, the PV modules have successfully passed the certification process for this special field of application. After the strategic partnership with the green roof specialist ZinCo GmbH, the tech company is going to further establish its innovative photovoltaic tube modules in the real estate and construction industry.

Augsburg, March 14, 2023 – The Augsburg-based solar company tubesolar AG has taken the next step in gaining a foothold in the construction and real estate industry with its innovative, tubular solar modules. After the recently announced cooperation with the specialist for green roofs ZinCo, the PV modules for Agri-PV applications have now been certified by TÜV Rheinland for its use in the "Green Building" segment.

This puts tubesolar in an excellent position to revolutionize the integration of photovoltaic systems in sustainable construction projects. In this context, tubesolar could benefit from the recently published photovoltaic strategy of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection.

"We are very proud that we can now also use our modules on green roofs. Thanks to our light- and water-permeable tubular modules, the function of a green roof is not impaired and electricity can be generated above the green area," explains Jürgen Gallina, CTO of tubesolar AG, adding, "With our tubular PV modules, projects can be realized in which one no longer has to decide between a photovoltaic system and another use of the area in terms of land use. Rather, our product enables dual use of the same area. The TÜV certification for the green building sector helps to make our product accessible to a wider public and to further push our commitment in the construction and real estate industry."

Due to the round shape of tubesolar's tube modules, their orientation is less relevant than with conventional flat modules. This also results in a uniform electricity yield throughout the day. In addition, there are other aspects that speak in favor of tubesolar, such as easier self-cleaning, lower wind resistance and advantages in terms of statics. The photovoltaic tubes from the Augsburg-based tech company are permeable to light and water, so that additional high-quality habitat can be created underneath for people, animals and plants. Thus, tubesolar's products offer the optimal conditions for use in sustainable construction projects.

tubesolar AG has taken over the laboratory production of OSRAM/LEDVANCE in Augsburg as a spin-off and acquired the patents from LEDVANCE and Dr. Vesselinka Petrova-Koch. tubesolar AG has been using this patent-protected technology since 2019 to develop and manufacture photovoltaic thin-film tubes that are joined together to form modules and whose properties enable additional application opportunities in solar power generation compared to conventional solar modules. The technology will be used in the agricultural sector, among others, and will span agricultural production areas. The modules are also to be used on industrial and commercial roofs.
